I started in the BSN program 10-12 years ago; I changed my major and received BSBA degree and currently I'm working on my MBA. I have decided to complete what I started several years ago-BSN. My question is, should I re-take my anatomy & physiology courses? How much will I need the courses for future knowledge; or can I learn this on the job? I am close to entering my clinical but have not registered for school yet.

I started prerequisites for an ASN program in 1992. Through life events, I was unable to continue into the program. I began a BSN program last year and did not take any of the A&P, Microbiology, etc over. The grades I received were all good and I didn't want to jeopardize the GPA for repeats (also, financial aid does not pay for repeats of a passing grade). I sometimes have to refresh my memory on certain things, but I have not had any difficulties in subject matter because of the length of time elapsed between classes. Good luck with MTSU, I am currently at ETSU.

You'll want to contact the nursing school and find out if they'll still accept the courses that you took way back when. Anatomy doesn't change, but you're talking over a decade ago.

You'll be competing against students that have taken in in the last year or two. If they have a choice, they'll take the students that have had it more recently.

Last year, 50% of qualified BSN students were turned away due to lack of space.

Find out if there is a waiting list, some schools have waiting times of up to three years, and it will be getting worse.

You'll want to find out how long you'll wait to get into the program before you start taking classes.
