| The National Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service, Inc. (NAPNES) in partnership the Infusion Nurses Society Certification Corporation (INSCC) are conducting a nationwide survey of the LPN / LVN role in infusion therapy. To participate, the LPN / LVN should have at least one year of experience post-licensure. LPNs / LVNs interested in taking the survey should go to: http://www.napnes.org/phpESP/public/...me=jobanalysis This survey is the initial research being conducted to help bring national standards to LPN / LVN infusion therapy training, regulation, and certification. The survey will determine both the LPN / LVN role in his/her current position as well as limitations being set by either the employer or the state board of nursing. Additional surveys to employers and state boards of nursing will also be conducted as part of the organizations research. Upon completion of the research, NAPNES' Council of Practical Nurse Educators will work with the INSCC to develop curriculum standards for entry level training as well as an advanced training program that leads to a post-licensure certification. Much as NAPNES did in the early 1960's (before most LPN / LVN schools taught pharmacology) NAPNES will then promote this program to schools to provide pre-licensure training to all Practical / Vocational Nursing Students in infusion therapy. The program will be nationalized which aids eases regulatory considerations by individual states. |
