| Super Moderator | L.A. Hospital Suspends Nurse After Death Sat Jan 8, 2005: L.A. Hospital Suspends Nurse After Death:"A patient died at a troubled hospital after an intensive care nurse ignored her worsening condition and alerted doctors only after the woman went into cardiac arrest, Los Angeles County health officials said. Alarms on the patient's vital-signs monitor were either turned off or lowered before she died Nov. 18 at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, the officials said. The 47-year-old woman had been suffering from pneumonia and sepsis." http://www.optonline.net/News/Articl...cle%3D13456873 Definitely not prudent nursing practice in this case. If you've been following the story with "Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center" this type of thing has been happening for quite some time. Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.nursinghumor.com |
