****o all I am currently a nursing student graduating in May. I am having a hard time deciding where I would like to work (what area) I was wondering if any of you work in a specialty area if you had experience as a floor nurse first or if you just started there. Honesly i don't really like floor nursing. I like ICU and we are doing our OB rotation now.... floor nursing isn't my thing i know that now, but lots of people tell me i need to do it for a year or so just to have the experience...any comments?

I work with students all the time and most of them say they plan to go into peds or L&D or ICU and will NEVER do floor nursing. I don't understand why they go into nursing in the first place. :confused:
