    Looking for Motivation

    Hello all,

my first time visit and post here. I'm an old nurse (well, not that old), thinking of coming out of retierment. It's been 7 yrs. since I last worked in the nursing field. My husband may be loosing his job due to health reasons. I might have to jump back in pretty quick. The problem is... I'm not real motivated. I was so burned out when I quit. The last job I had was so stressful, so short staffed,.... blah, blah, you all know. I use to cry every day on the drive in. The state of Virginia says to reactivate my license I need 40 CEU's. Any advice on how to do this quickly? I have no idea where to look. When I quit, I walked away and didn't look back.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

hi welcome back...for CEU's there are lots of places online that have free and cheap CEU's I believe there is a forum on here about them. I've used RN.com you read articles and take tests they have a per test price and a year unlimited which would probably be best for you needing 40 it's about $25. Check with any hospital in your area and see if they have any seminars coming up but they might be more expensive.

Medscape has some CEU's, also. You sign up to the site, but it is soooo worth it.

Have you ever considered working Home Health or in an office?

    Cougarnurse,

thanks for the Medscape suggestion for CEU's. I had been to that site before but not for that reason.

    Indonurse,

???? When I said I was looking for motivation, I guess what I'm looking for is a reason to go back into the nursing field. I loved the patient care thing. I did L&D, PP, Newborn, Homehealth and some Post-op. I did staff, days, nights, rotate, agencey, PRN, and on-call. I just got so burned-out. I would be more than happy to work for a hospital for less money if they had more staffing back then. My old boss told me the day I quit I would never find a job like I wanted. For a couple of years I sent her Christmas Cards. The Perfect Job, I wrote in side. Home with my kids. I just don't think the money is worth it. No cable for years, no internet for years, no vacation, no new car, not many dinners out, no fancey clothes, never go to the movies, But I have my sanity.
