With flu-shot shortage, panic is what’s contagious

With flu-shot shortage, panic is what’s contagious:"It is human nature to want something we think we cannot have. This year, the “can’t have” is the flu vaccine, and thousands of people – some who never really considered getting a flu shot before – are pleading for one.
Because only half the anticipated vaccine will be available this year, public health officials have prioritized who should get the vaccine.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control estimates between 35 million and 50 million Americans will come down with influenza – high fever, respiratory symptoms, body aches lasting more than a couple days – between November and March. Of those, 200,000 will be hospitalized; 20,000 will die from complications such as pneumonia."
