    Re: Interesting piece of news!

I think rates are going up because everyone that can is trying to cash in on the healthcare field, especially the pharmaceutical industry.

Anyone ever see a drug rep's expense account? They've got virtually unlimited credit when it comes to taking out "clients" buying gifts, etc to help sell their companies drugs.

Electronic medical record systems are no different, the companies will charge absolutely as much as they can to install and maintain them, specially now that they are being mandated.

In the meantime, 45 million of us are uninsured, most middle class people can easily go into debt and bankruptcy if a catastrophic illness hits, and the elderly need to decide between blood pressure/other meds and putting food on the table or paying rent.

What is wrong with this picture?

    Sincerely,

    Andrew Lopez, RN
