Well....she just got a new car, right? Maybe a refillable gas card, or something to 'pamper' herself with.![]()

Our nursing home is quite divided and I work 3rd shift and we are pretty isolated. The holiday party was at 2pm last Wednesday which is very inconvenient for those of us who work at night. We are having our own "party" this week and we're doing a Secret Santa. I have the other 3rd shift nurse. I have no idea what to get her. The price is $15 I believe. I know she's a widow, close to being able to retire/cut back on hours, has a son that still lives with her, recently got a new car... but not much more about her life, likes, dislikes, etc. Any suggestions on gift ideas?
THANKS!

Hi Santa,
She sounds like an ideal candidate for an assortment of homemade baked goods, home canned fruit compotes, relishes, pickles, sauces, jams and jellies, homemade bath salts or soaps, you get the idea. I've seen this many times done in a basket or even galvinized bucket. Add a package of flower seeds, a few gourmet candies and wrap it all up in a nice hand towel. If you don't can or bake, you can buy items like these in any specialty shop. If you have to buy all of the items, you can get a few small things, the hand towel, tuck it all in a large flower pot and still be under fifteen dollars.
Good luck, have fun, and Happy Holidays,
R

That sounds good, too! If she reads, a certificate for the local book store....but that can be for retirement, too. Let us know how she likes the gift.
