| Super Moderator | Doctors, nurses urged to get flu shots Doctors, nurses urged to get flu shots:"Nearly two-thirds of health workers do not get vaccinated:"People shouldn’t risk catching influenza from their nurse or doctor, experts agreed Thursday in giving their sternest advice yet to healthcare workers to get vaccinated against the virus. The federal advisers who set the standards on vaccines approved their recommendation following studies that show nearly two-thirds of healthcare workers do not get the shots." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5290164/ Knowing that there is no guarantee the flu vaccine will protect me from the strain of flu circulating in a given year, you may wonder "what is the point?" In that respect I can see why some refuse. My thinking has always been that if I get a shot every year, eventually I'll be exposed to that strain and possibly I'll have some "cross resistance" if I do get exposed. Apparently healthcare workers refuse the flu shot more often than not. Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.4nursing.com |
