wow.
Also, how many sick people are there that work in nursing homes and take advantage of the elderly? I can't imagine what a huge number it is, and not just sexual perversion, but stealing, physical abuse, etc...
February 7, 2005: Sex Offenders In Nursing Homes:"It's something few people might give thought to -- registered sex offenders living in nursing homes. But KCRA 3 Investigates found just that. In many cases, staff and other residents had no idea they were there.
KCRA 3 found that there are currently 52 registered sex offenders living in California nursing homes. And not all are elderly men confined to their bed. Fifty-six percent are under 70.
"They're looking for somebody they can physically overpower and intimidate and keep from talking."

Makes you wonder how many registered sex offenders are residing in the nursing home you have your parents in. Some kind of legislation has to be put into effect. I'm sure there have already been incidents. This is just begging for trouble.

Granted the long term care industry has enough ills already. This is not another they need to let run rampant till JCAHO or some other governing body is forced to legislate it.
I'd rather see an ounce of prevention in this case.
