    hello to all

hello to all, my name is colleen kochman, i'm a pacu nurse at community general hospital in syr. n.y. cgh employees are members of 1199seiu upstate. i'm interested in trends in staffing esp. call and utilization of pacu staff in non-traditional environs-ie endoscopy, radiology closed reduction orthopedic procedures. any info on how to convince management that mandating staff is not the best long term solution to staffing issues? thanks, col

Hi, Colleen! Nice to meet you!

I wish I could help you on the staffing bit, but we've had problems with staffing, also. In fact, one nurse called at
3 p. m. Sunday (beginning of her shift!) and QUIT!

Anyhow, I hope to see more of your posts on the site.

    Welcome Colleen!

LOL, the civilian nurses that work in PACU at Madigan Army Medical Center have it EASY. Even though they are on call... seldom are they called in because our ICU becomes a PACU on the weekends along with our OWN patients.
