Another vaccine story....

That's really wild. Yes I still have a scar. As a matter of fact I have 2 of them. Had to get the vaccine again when I joined the Navy in 81. That was one of the worse vaccines I have ever received--and the most painful one too. It was called the "21 gun salute". They took this needle with the vaccine in it and poked it in your arm 21 times. By the time they were done, you looked like you had herpes on your arm. I had multiple blisters about the size of a half dollar on my forearm. I certainly hope they have improved it since then.

With every virus there are drawbacks... Warnings are there for a reason and I know from experience the military gives them (at 900 wpm but they are there.) Did Dad not know his son had excema or was he too busy doing the "Army two step" to listen.

Dad probably isn't a nurse, and you KNOW that 'John Q. Public' doesn't have access to all those nice little product info. sheets we have.

I think the word "rare" sums up this story well. Should we subject thousands of our troops to smallpox as opposed to gunfire?
