Nursing- to be or not to be?!?!

I am considering becoming a nurse and have an interview in December but have been put off the profession by a number of people. I am currently in Health Promotion but would like to go into the more practical side of things and eventually become a nurse consultant. I am concerned about the low wages and shift work and would like some advice from nurses or people in a similar situation to myself. I REALLY don't know what to do.

I'm young and feel that I could do well in nursing but worry that i'll get frustrated by shifts and having no money!

    Please help!

You can find some helpful advice here:

Nurses' Views of The Nursing Profession
    http://www.nursefriendly.com/views

It gives nurses feelings on why they would or would not recommend the field. Some do, some don't and they explain why.

Hope that sheds a little light on the topic for you. Salaries for nurses are on the rise due to the shortage, but conditions are demanding and stressful. You can earn more in other places, get more respect and more money. It depends on how much you love the idea of being a nurse.
