What exactly does a nurse that works in the ER do? Is it a hard job compaired to the "other nursing jobs"
    thanks,

    Re: ER Nurse

    Hey Kendall,

Are you in nursing school right now? I remember taking a critical care course elective when I was in nursing school. I did a rotation in the ER as a student. Maybe that is the best way to find out what a nurse does in the ER.

I have floated to the ER several times, plus my wife is an ER nurse, so I hear about ER nursing all the time. Here is an analogy for you; A goalkeeper in soccer is rather bored most of the time, like when his/her team is on the offensive. However, when the opposition is attacking your goal your movement counts & you must move on instinct. So, in the ER you have the runny noses, drug seekers, those patients that use the ER as a day clinic, yet when EMS brings you a patient that is coding it is your job as an ER team member to make the right decisions in a split second.
