| Re: Unit manager I have supervised many unit managers or coordinators in the LTC setting. In general, the expectation is that they cover the desk work while the floor nurses are supervising the CNAs, passing meds and doing treatments. Some more specific duties are: process physician's orders, document weekly/monthly summaries, document quarterly/annual assessments, maintain care plans, participate in care conferences, monitor/track infection control data, participate in QI & QA meetings and of course provide floor nurse coverage as needed. It sounds like a lot, and it is! However, with good training and effective time management, the entire process can flow smoothly. Hope I've been helpful! |
