Does your Facility have a Skin Care/Wound Care nurse? Or are you 'on your own'?

We have 2 at our small community hospital. We have protocol also. When I did home care did lots of wound care and we had a wound nurse there (who's now one of the 2 at the hospital and head of education so we'd assess and she'd get recommendation from the MD....when my dad was just in the hospital before he died he was at a big hospital that had 2 hospitals about 15 miles apart and 1 wound care nurse for both and it took 2 days to get her over to the hospital he was at and that was only when I called the nurse manager of the unit he was on and asked how long an evaluation takes after there's an order (and I had to ask for that the nurses on duty didn't ever assess his butt when he wasn't moving much and sitting all the time)...I was not happy

I am the skin/wound care nurse. Though after today I'm reconsidering keeping the position with my current employer... uggh
