Going back to nursing after 8 years!

Hello, everyone! I'm new to this forum...well, let's just say that this is the only forum I have ever done...:-)

I'm re-entering the LPN field after 8 years. I've been a stay-at-home mom...I've just recently got hired at a LTN facility...small, only 51 beds...I'm taking the 11-7 shift, so I can still have days home in case any of my children are sick, etc., etc..I'm really excited to start working again...I love the elderly, and I've always felt that geriatrics was one of my most favorite areas of nursing...my prior job was at a skilled nursing facility 8 years ago, so I know things are going to be different...the facility that I'm at is unskilled....

I guess, I would just like to know any suggestions on getting prepared to start working again...I haven't started yet...going through the background check, physical, etc....I dug out all my nursing books, notes, etc....remembering quite a bit...I talked to one of my former nursing instructors and she said that going back into nursing after these years should be like getting back on a bicycle :-)

So, if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thanks!!!
