Why so few new RN programs?

Anybody know why this is? I'm currently in an LVN program and I'm anticipating having a difficult time getting into a bridge program when I'm finished. It seems that every week that I check the BVNPT there is a new LVN school, however, the same cannot be said for RN programs.

Simple....it could be lack of teachers! From what I understand, there is the pay scale; one makes more 'on the floor' than teaching. Also, being an adjunct vs. tenured.

That'd be my best guess too: lack of teachers.

The program I graduated from actually just hired on 3-4 additional new professors though. :-)

I know there is a lack of instructors but somehow these LVN programs seem to find them. I just started my LVN program and I'm already getting depressed at the thought of being put on a waiting list.

Re: Why so few new RN programs?

Phoenix AZ usually has no wait list for two year RN. I graduated from Gateway Community College in 2000. I didn't need to wait. In fact, the program director was out on the town recruiting potential students for the program. There were only 18 people in my graduating class. There could have been 28.
