    Question IL Wound Care

I heard there is a one day seminar on wounds sometime this March around Glenn Ellyn, IL (I think??) and I can't find anything on it on the internet. Anyone know of anything like this?

Ya know, dear, I KNEW I'd gotten something in the mail about something, but forgot where I'd put it. Just found it, too! :houra: There will be a seminar called Pressure Ulcer Management: Are You Seeing the Complete Picture? in 3 different locals. One is in Peoria on April 10th, Downers Grove on April 11th, then Northbrook on April 12th. It is through PESI.

    Interested?

    Re: IL Wound Care

Hello everyone I am new to this forum, but I am very interested in wound care. I was wondering if anyone could help with get an example of a wound care nurse orientation checklist. I am trying to develop one for my facility and I need some help. Thanks to all!

Hey, leslie! I am sure your facility has the Long Term Council on Aging folders. My facility has the 'originals' in a safe place. One sheet is used for pressure ulcers; another is used for 'everything BUT pressure ulcers, ex. shin tears, scratches, dry skin, bruises, etc.

What kind of a check list IS needed? Any ideas?

    Re: IL Wound Care

The other day I was looking at our Policy & Procedure book and noticed at Wound Care Nurse Training Checklist... it was things specific to my facility mostly, like review of our wound care module, protocols and formulary of items we can use, etc. Oddly nobody went over this when I became the wound care nurse though.

Cat - what type of LTC forms are you talking about, I'm not sure how I'd know if my facility has something like this.

If that seminar is in Skokie, I am headed there. It was originally scheduled for this week, but something came up.....I guess had an overlapping schedule?

The seminar I went to 2 weeks ago in Oak Lawn touched on Quality Assurance. I will try to see if i can find out when any other seminars like that are available.

Thanks to all for the input. I am speciafically looking for a checklist or orientation list for new nurses. This is a new program for us and we have not had wound care nurses before. It would list all of the wound care skills that a new nurse should be able to do and the date that the skill was checked off. I am going to check out some of the wound care organization websites.
