Thread: license fees

    Angry license fees

I just got the renewal for my CT RN license and was infuriated to see that the annual fee to maintain an RN license in Connecticut has doubled from $50.00 per year to a whopping $100.00 per year. I'm writing the governor and my state legislators but am wondering where I can find a list of what other states charge to renew licenses. Anyone else out there who's not in Connecticut forking out $100 per year for a license renewal?

    Re: license fees

I hear ya on the fees! When I got my LPN license, was $15 for 1 year, as I took boards in the middle of the 2 year cycle. Friend who was a hair stylist paid $40 compared to a nurses $30. Well.....nurses fee went up to $40. Now......it is $60.

I know the State Forums have the BON's posted. Check to see if the fees are posted....

...Colorado is now $139 a year to renew. At least they are now a compact state.

What does it mean to be a compact state?

    Re: license fees

The nursing compact is a group of 20+ states that have agreed to licensure reciprocity (that may not be the right word). If you are resident of one the states in the compact, then you can practice in any of the other states. It's a wonderful thing for travel nurses! You can go to www. ncsbn.org for more info.

Nope. Not at this time. The states that are Compact states have posts in them. Rhode Island is due in '08.

I live in one state and have a liscense here, I work in another and have a liscense there...the one I work in is compact and the one I live in isn't so the compact does me no good right now they were going with it a year or so ago then changed their mind. The one I work in (KY) went from every 2 year renewal to every year now if/when I do travel I'll be getting lots of liscenses I guess

Here in Ontario, the annual fee is $150. for RN and RPN. If not paid prior to Dec. 31, it goes up to 175.00. Last year they implemented an online registration system and it seems to be quicker and easier.
