Hospitals receive a staffing reprieve (California)

Hospitals receive a staffing reprieve:"Hospitals say the relaxation of a state law setting nurse staffing levels will give them needed flexibility at a time when emergency rooms are shutting down at an alarming rate.
The state's Office of Administrative Law has granted a move by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to put off a looming deadline that would have phased in even higher levels of staffing on Jan. 1, as the law turns a year old.
The changes, which include a looser interpretation of the law on ER nurse-to-patient ratios, have gone into effect, contingent upon further review by the state Department of Health Services."

Damn if Arnold didn't pull it off.
