| ATTENTION DALLAS/FORT WORTH RNs NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP For yourself For your patients For your profession On Wednesday, August 15 PROMINENT DFW CITIZENS WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING They would like to hear from RNs about Staffing ratios and safe patient care Patient advocacy and RN duties and rights The central role of RNs in the delivery of health care Every experienced RN has patient care stories that are important for the public to hear WHEN: Wednesday August 15. Testimony will be taken from 10 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. WHERE: Mesquite Arts Center, Rehearsal Hall, 1527 North Galloway Drive WHO IS ON THE PANEL: Panel members include ministers, state and county elected officials, doctors, officers of unions and retiree groups, interested citizens. The chairperson is Judge Gracie Lewis. WHY: Recently the Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite increased ICU patient loads and discharged RNs who objected. DRMC’s actions have sharply raised the connection between safe patient care and low staffing ratios. WHAT YOU CAN DO ATTEND to show that patient care is important to RNs. TESTIFY in person or by written statement RN testimony should be confined to incidents of patient care. Do not identify your facility or patient names. Do explain in lay terms your specialty, the type of unit, and the acuity of the patients involved. Do explain clearly the incident and its importance to the public. Send written testimony to info@nnoc.org Summaries will be prepared and presented to the Panel. No names will be used. Live testimony is vital for panel members to hear.
