\"El\" Press-Gainey If the press-gainey survey is not sent out to patients in Spanish, are we serving ALL of our patients? In the interest of academic integrity, should we not include the ENTIRE sample when conducting a survey?? I welcome your comments!

| Super Moderator | Re: \"El\" Press-Gainey That strikes me as strange. With Hispanics being the second largest minority group in the country, that would be leaving out a large portion of the population served. With them expected to be come the #1 minority in the US by 2050, I'd say if they're not being included, arrangements need to be made so that they will be. Andrew Lopez, RN http://www.4nursing.com |

Re: \"El\" Press-Gainey Guys the Press Ganey scores put your hospital in a group with others that may or may not be really comparable to what your hospital does or the numbers it serves....it looks like a good thing but is really useless.

Re: \"El\" Press-Gainey We have a doc that calls the administrative assistant and asks her NOT to send a press ganey survey to patients who have left unhappy. How's that for skewing the data!! I agree, with the Press Ganey scores being useless. They do nothing for us but to encourage our nurse manager to hound us the beat the previous percentage.

Re: \"El\" Press-Gainey One last Press Gainey survey story. We had a psycotic man brought to the ER by two co-workers. This man was a college professor with no psyc hx. Anyway, he was a big man, like 6'4" 250 lbs - and very intimidating. He was standing at the front desk outside of Triage making a scene - because he knew the "CIA" was watching him, etc... He was also very sexually fixated on any female, constantly repeating how he "wanted a b**w job! I was the unfortunate person in charge that day. We tried reasoning with him and encouraged him to come back to a room, but he refused - just kept up the sexual talk in front of a waiting room full of adults AND children. I had had just about enough, so my only male nurse and I grabbed him under each arm and the seat of his pants and pulled/dragged him to one of our psyc rooms. Well, the ruckus continued, and every female was suppose to "service" him. I needed a man to stay with him - because females just exacerbated the problem. My only male nurse had a full assignment and I couldn't spare him. I called the supervisor for assistance and got no where. I called administration and our CEO came down to find out what was going on. We went in to the Dr. lounge and I explained the situation to the CEO and the Dr. (who thought it was quite funny). So, the Doc says "why don't you just give him what he wants?", I said "You just don't pay me enough to give him a b**w job!" he said, "yeah, but thing of the Press Ganeys!"
