Marriage Question..

Just wondering- want to get some unbiased perspective here:

My husband of 7 years has a HORRIBLE snoring problem that keeps me awake most nights I have to sleep with him. Even the highest decibel earplugs do not block it out. He has been diagnosed with sleep apnea in the past, and wore a CPAP for a while. He got better when he lost a little weight, so he didn't need the CPAP anymore. Well, he has gained the weight back, so the snoring is back. I told him if he can't lose weight to make it improve, then he needs to go back on the CPAP- for his health & my sanity. He told me he absolutely will not wear the CPAP, no matter what. He said he would rather divorce than wear that thing again. I am speechless. What do you guys think of this? Is he being unreasonable???

Beyond unreasonable!

Of course, the wt. loss is for his own good. The sleep apnea is another related thing. However, has he tried those breathing strips?

I also think he is being unreasonable. My husband had a fatal heart attack. Looking back on it, I realized that he obviously had sleep apnea. I wish he had a CPAP machine to use, maybe he would still be around today.

My wife can say some woppers sometimes. I try not to dwell on the not so kind words. With that said, I really wish your husband would not have used that word... Divorce, rather than CPAP. Please, encourage him to lose weight for his health, as well as his marriage.

Re: Marriage Question..

Thanks for you input, everyone. We talked about it today after we both calmed down, and he apologized for using the "D" word, and said that's the last thing he wants... he agreed to start a diet/exercise program with me, and if he hasn't lost enough weight to alleviate the snoring in a couple months, he said he will try the cpap again.

Re: Marriage Question..

Why don't you tape record the snoring and play it for him. Then he will really be aware of the NOISE.
He's selfish if he does not respect your logical wishes.
I hope he goes back to the C-pap and lose weight.
Good luck

Re: Marriage Question..

It'll be 7 years in November- I have taped him before, so he knows how loud it gets. He is doing well with trying to lose weight- has lost 5 lbs in the last couple weeks. It hasn't stopped the snoring yet, but it's a start.

Maybe T&A (Tonsils/Adenoids) procedure?
