LPN: Can a student challenge the exam?

Hello everyone! Am back... After a semester and a long struggle with my MedSurg, Psyche & Pharma,I wont be enrolling in the incoming sem coz am gonna go to the US on December.

My question is, people had been telling me that I could try to challenge the LPN licensure exam there so that I could work while finishing my BSN, how true is it?

Here in the Philippines we dont have that. Can someone enlighten me about it? What are the extent of subjects in an LPN? Do I need to enroll on a certain short course before I could be licensed? Is it easy to find a job once you are licensed? Is working and finishing my BSN a manageable thing to do?

Hope someone can give me some words of advice.

Thanks!

I'd say that's a definite no.

If you were licensed and going from one state to another in the US, that would be a different story. Coming from another country, you'll have to take and pass the same licensure examinations a US nurse does to get a license.

That won't preclude you from working as a nursing assistant while you're finishing your schooling, but transferring or challenging the licensure exam is out of the question.
