Oct. 22, 2004: Nevada: Hospitals Fear Flu Season Overcrowding:"The flu season hasn't hit Nevada yet, but hospitals in the valley say once it does there are going to be big problems. The problems compounded not only by a lack of flu vaccine, but also the continuing mental health crisis.
On an average day, one third of the valley's total emergency room beds are occupied by mental health patients. These are patients that can't get into the state mental health hospital because it's overcrowded."

Hmmmmm. . . .will the flu vaccine shortage translate into two, three or even four times the normal number of flu patients? Have to wonder if it's really all hype. We can't afford to ignore it and not plan in case it really happens.
