Question Distance Education - some questions

I've been perusing the boards here for a little bit, and a question has come to me that I feel the need to ask. If this has been covered before, please forgive me, and point me in the right direction.
Distance learning LPN/LVN to RN - what does it entail? how are clinicals accomplished? Is it accepted in every state? how long does it usually take? what form do the classes take? (I'm sure that one depends on which distance-based school one enrolls in, but I thought that I would ask anyway).
Any advice for a good PN-RN online/distance program?

thanks,

Re: Distance Education - some questions

Here is some information on Indiana State University's program.

http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/891.html

LPNs will take the TEAS exam for entrance into the program. This will begin for the Spring 07 Semester. http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/3240.html

Our LPN-BSN distance education program has been RECOGNIZED or APPROVED in the following states:

Alabama
Colorado
District of Columbia
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois (need to approve each clinical site)

Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska
New Jersey
New Mexico
North Carolina
Ohio
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Dakota
Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John)
Virginia
Wisconsin

Then clinicals will be done in the state where you reside, with a preceptor at a local facility. This link is the FAQ (frequently asked questions) for the delivery of clinical education for the LPN-BS Distance Education Track: http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pd...s-clinical.pdf

Hope this helps some.

Re: Distance Education - some questions

unfortunately, I live in Texas, which isn't on your list.
Thanks, though.

Re: Distance Education - some questions

I would check around in your state.I am almost positive that you all have distance learning programs at actual Universities.Check your board of nursing for the various schools.I ended up looking through Ohio's and going to every school website until I found an LPn to RN program online.I did have a drive and a half but I didnt mind as long as I could graduate in 2 years with no wait....and ta da here I am in my last semester.Graduate in spring of 2007(april)
