Nurse in recovery

Hello!
Ive been reading posting on this site for the past hour and I can trully say that they have lifted my spirit so far. I am so scared of my current situation. I was recently fired from my job for diversion of narcotics (dilaudid), I had been using it off and on for four months before I got caught. The state's narcotic division and the (BON) where informed. I was able to save my licence by joining the Impaired nurses program in my state. I am doing very good in my rehab program but its been almost impossible getting a job since I have to be supervised and work in an area whithout direct patient care. Does any one have any advice for me? I can really use some words of encouragement.

Hi Sheley,

I sent you a private message as well - if you are cleared to return to work - I have found that psychiatric facilities seem to be more forgiving in the hiring process, If you are in the Southern California area around Los Angeles area I do have some contacts and might be able to help.
Keep your chin up.

Peace and Namaste

Hppy

Re: Nurse in recovery

I've found that non-patient care jobs such as MDS Coordinators, Case Managers, Nurse Liasons and things like Detox Facilities, Psych (as Hppy mentioned) and long-term care tend to be more recovery-friendly.
