license vs spirituality

I got a friend who just got his LPN , he engages in Shamanic practices regularly i.e. meditation song drumming consumption of ethenogens including mescaline psilocybin DMT ect. and usually openly talks about his rituals with friends as he feels he shouldn't be ashamed of his beliefs. He has never came to work under the influence of any of these psychoactives nor would he ever risk the safety of his patients or co-workers by doing so. Do hospitals test for these chemicals ,or are the drug test just your standard 5 point tests? If word somehow got around that he uses this chemicals when he's not at work could his employer legally ask him to take a drug test?

Re: license vs spirituality

Yes, some employers do test for these chemicals. And the tests used by state nursing boards are VERY comprehensive. Any employer OR the board of nursing can ask him to take a drug test at any time, for any reason. If he refuses or tests positive, he can lose his job, or lose his license.
