I called them to self report last week and they still didn't call back , call them again today and my scheduled day for intake is next week tues.. I'm kind of dissappointed in them I thought this was a hurry up thing. I'm not using and I have been under a pyschiatrist care for a year and recovery for a year (good thing). but they didn't even ask. I will never admit to diversion because I didn't ..I was very suprised by it. What they found in their investigation was 2 weeks of misc. drugs not signed out.I WILL NEVER ADMIT TO DIVERSION, IT'S WRONG, THAT'S WHERE THAT CRAPPY RULE COMES IN AS THE DEPARTMENT MANAGER SAID.>> "IF IT WASN'T SIGNED OUT IT WASN'T GIVEN!"(SO, THERFORE IT'S OKAY FOR THEM TO TERMINATE ME FOR DIVERSION WITH NO FRICKN PROOF AND HAVE ME BATTLE IT OUT WITH THE BON!!)the missing documentation of meds were the 2 weeks I have documentation, I was on various medications and had been in my pysch doctors office evry 2/3 days,WITH c/o coginitve impairment.

With re: to the Board getting back to you - it's usually a hurry up and wait situation. Particularly hard for people with our disease as we don't like to wait for things.

I don't want to sound harsh because I know you are scared and hurting and wondering whats going to happen next but it's not just a rule where you were working - it's true anywhere in nursing that if something isn't documented it's not done! Cases are won and lost every day on such documentation errors.

What's going to become a big issue for you is that you seem to know that you were not functioning safely and yet continued to work! That can actually be cause for malfeasance /malpractice action because you knowingly put patients at risk. You should have taken yourself off work and applied for mental health disability. Not all states have disability but all states have short term SDI (the paperwork is a nightmare).

You have to know your limitations - I myself know I cannot safely work overnight shifts - I have had to take a day job working with home care patients at significantly less money - just for the sake of my sanity.
Don't get me wrong - I love what I do now.

If you did not divert then you should not admit to it - but to forget to document something once or twice is quite different than forgetting to document over the course of two weeks is quite a lapse. If I were you I would make sure that your doctor is willing to say that you were congnitively impaired. He she may not be willing to do so as it may place his/her license at risk if he/she did not take you off work while adjusting your medications.

This is just a quick note because - I am actuallly at work right now - but I wanted to give you food for thought. - One of the biggest parts of recovery is to be able to accept our own part in what happens to us and not place blame elsewhere.

Peace and Namaste.
