Handling the meds again...

Hi everyone,
I recently received my full privileges back i.e., can give meds now. Am a little nervous about going into a position where I administer controlled substances; it's a good nervous though. But I have these little thoughts like, "what if count is wrong", "what if something is missing and I get blamed" blah blah blah. I'm curious as to your experiences when going back to nursing with full privileges.

Shortly after I got my medication priviledgs back the count came up wrong on my unit - there were 18 nurses in recovery at my workplace all in various programs - the director used to joke that she never worried about her nurses in recovery because with all the testing and such - "You guys are the only ones I know for sure are sober" Anyway it turned out to be a documentation error. I do home care now and am around controlled substances all the time. Have not been tempted yet and I stay close with my sponsor and continue to work my personal program of recovery even though I've been out of diversion since last October.

Peace and Namaste
