It depends from State to State but most states require that the license in your home state be in good standing. Remember drug convictions go into a federal data base so eventually you will be found out.

Now on to the bigger question - do you consider yourself to have a drug problem? If so, it woould behoove you to get help and get sober. If you are not yet under BON supervison You may soon be and it will look better for you if you are already seeking help. In my own case I was already in an INtensive outpatient program when I self reported to the Board. because I was already in treatment I was not required to go in-patient.

If you can stay sober, attend AA/NA and work until the Board catches up with you go ahead and do it and put as much of what you are making away as you will need it if and when the BON takes you off work.

It's time to refocus your priorities and get healthy so that you can be the best nurse you know how to be.
