| California RN wants Florida license. Hi everyone, I need some feedback on this, especially from someone who has done it. I have been clean and in the CA Diversion program for 2.5 years. I am unable to find work in California (I'm a CRNA), but I found a good job in Florida. Since I self-referred to the Diversion program, I can withdraw without consequences (I think). But the Florida license application asks if I have a Hx of substance abuse. I want to be honest about everything; that strategy has worked well so far. But I worry if I am honest I will end up in a bureaucratic nightmare world that will delay my Florida license for months. What do you think? Thanks, Norman |

From one diversion nurse to another let me share with you what I have learned. Even if you self referred you can't just walk out of Diversion. You have to ask to be let go. They decide - If you just walk out the diversion board will turn all your records over to the BON and then you have to wait for probation to find you. However you can usually transfer you Diversion to another state as long as you have been 100% compliant. If your new employer doesn't know about your status you should let them know - but the general rule of thumb is to wait until you have a job offer. Then you'll know if you they are hiring you based on your qualifications. If you were hoping to just go somehere else and and leave the whole thing behind you I would suggest that you read the stories in the Big Book that tell about people seeking a "Geographical" solutions. Good luck to you Peace and Namaste Hppy | |
