Background checks

Does anyone know what exactly is pulled up by hospitals when they do criminal background checks on potential employees. Is it only convictions they have access to, or are criminal charges (that were dropped) also available to them?

HI! It is my understanding in NC where I had dismissed charges, that they remained on my record unless I had them expunged. I actually sent the paper work today to have that done. In NC they will do the first one without cost. Some attorneys try and charge large sums of money to do this. Don't get ripped off! If I were you I would contact the Court system in your state to find out! Hope this helps! Deb
