what i dont get?

Nursing is in demand why dont they open more schools?
at my school its a lottery pick. every semister they pick 30 out of 150 applicants. I am about to finish all my prerequisite and waiting is a waste every semister.

Re: what i dont get?

I was asked to be a clinical instructor before but I think I would not do to well. I really like people that are interested and want to learn and try but the first time someone didn't think I'd be a bit ticked. We still get students assigned to us when they come and do clinicals most are ok but I couldn't do it for the long haul.

Oh I'd love to do it I just don't agree with their teaching philosophies.. i.e. MSN for BSN program without any clinical background myself.. That's just plain stupid.. Sorry but it is..

I had an NP who was teaching senior Adult Health labs. She waited for me to come to a lab one day.. I'm rarely late to class. And then she asked me "how do YOU hang blood" can you show us how to suction...Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz

Re: what i dont get?

we had the students come today for orientation. They seem like a pretty good bunch this time. They only took patients for 2 hours at the end of day shift today. They only have 3 more days on OB clinical then they have to self schedule "on-call" 8 hours for L&D. I don't really think 3 days plus 2 hours is even really getting a taste of what's going on. There is a Tuesday and Thursday group. The Tuesday group will really not get much then we are just gearing up again from the weekend as we don't schedule things on the weekend and our scheduled OR days are Wed and Friday. On Tuesday's we are likely to have more patients then students which isn't really fair to them.
