| So ... with all those females around ... Well, seeing how female nurses outnumber males almost 1 to 20, how many of you male nurses have met women through work? I'm interested in getting into the field, and would like to know what the environment is like. Is it laid back enough to allow some flirting, and do you think some female nurses find male nurses attractive? Share your experiences. |

Besides, I met my wife [we are both RN's] in 1997 while doing nursing school clinicals. She was one of the staff nurses, and I, a nursing student. Yet, we did not start dating until over year and a half later, and neither of us worked in the same place we met, or presently worked at the time we started dating. IMHO, the workplace is not for flirting. Regards to female nurses finding male nurses attractive... my wife says I am. ![]()

The social environment in the medical field does tend to be much more laid back than in the business world and I have seen quite a lot of playful flirting going on. But anytime you participate in that you really need to be aware of the risk you take. What you might think is harmless flirting might be taken in the wrong context and you may end up facing charges of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment = bad. Unfortunately, a charge of sexual harassment is usually seen as automatic guilt with the burden of proof upon the person charged with the infraction. Many times sexual harassment charges stem only from a misunderstanding. Fair warning. I've been happily married for 16 years so I've not had to worry about the dating game, or being single and looking. I feel sorry for folks stuck in that situation. It's really tough these days to find someone that you get along with well who is intelligent, attractive, has common sense, and common interests. Unless you want to hang out at bars, or attempt the internet thing, you are left with the slim chance of meeting someone through another friend, or meeting someone at work. You could always hang out at playgrounds looking for single moms, but you'd probably get some strange looks and/or arrested. LOL
