Second course as nursing

Hello guys i just graduated my BSmarketing last 2004,at age 21, after that i helped my family business. Now im kinda bored with my business and my older sister will take it over my task. Im planning to take ASN this month because im inspired with my GF and my cousin coz they are all nurses. So fetching my GF day to day in a hospital, it really makes my mind motivate to take nursing as my carrier.

Getting ASN for 2 years, is there an assurance for a staff nurse someday? do i need to take 4 years for BSN or ASN is alright? coz i already took my BSmarketing 2 years ago and its 4 years. so i need some advice...what are the difference of BSN and ASN in terms of task and salary per hour?

if you pass school and pass boards there should be no problem getting a job.

Inquirew about a bridge program: You may be able to advance to a masters level degree (PA,NP) with an associates degree and a BS in other than nursing. The pay difference between BSN and ASN is about $.50 an hour - hardly worth it.

Re: Second course as nursing

hmmm i will just get my Masters if im already got my experience, for a meanwhile, I just enrole to ASN this coming month.

$.50 dollars difference yah its kinda worth it but waiting for 2 more years studying on BS nursing is kinda waste of time in my case.

ASN and BSN still get the same NCLEX-RN right?

Thanks guys i already finalize my mind to get ASN i love this site

Re: Second course as nursing

NCLEX gets you the same RN right. BSN doesn't even get .50 for me...it does get me a whole point on the clinical ladder big yippy....I can also get a point for walking in March of DImes, Heart assoc etc walk for 2 hours once a year and didn't have to study or pay for that. Get another point for doing CEU's above my state & certification requirements and even more points for being at the same hospital for a few years. I want more points for my BSN!! Our clinical ladder has 2 levels 3.5% and 7% above base but only 10% of nurses on any unit can be on the ladder so that's 4 nurses and those of us doing it all have about the same points so we'll see which % I end up with this year. I have the most points but as long as you're above the points required for that level you can get it and all four of us are in the same point bracket

Re: Second course as nursing

spend a couple more days thinking about it, maybe spend a whole day with a nurse shadowing. If you spent 4 years in school to get bored in 9 months in the family business- make sure its what you want before starting a new career.

also- seriously consider taking an english composition class along the way.
