| Potluck When you work mostly with women, sooner or later one of them is going to get knocked up. Then the resident "Organizer" (you know who she is, the one that collects a dollar from everyone monthly so she can get a cake for all the people having a birthday that month) will approach you to sign up for the potluck that will be held with the obligatory "baby shower". What to do, what to do? If you cook, no problem but what if you don't and your mother is on vacation in Europe? I have found the easiest most fool proof dish for you to bring. PASTA SALAD ! ! With a few simple ingredients and the time it takes to boil water you will have all the girls asking for this recipe. Under no circumstances must you tell them. They will steal it from you in a heart-beat and then you will have to figure out what to bring for the next potluck. Boil up one pound of macaroni the way it tells you on the box. Use whatever you like but linguine and fussilli are my personal favorites. When times up, drain it and throw it in a bowl. Cut up 2 tomatoes and 1 cucumber (an onion wouldn't hurt, but that's optional) and toss it in. Dump on an 8 oz bottle of Wishbone Italian dressing and 1/2 jar of McCormicks Salad Supreme (they hide it pretty well at the grocery store so you really have to look for it). Mix it. Done! BTW do this the night before, its better when it sits overnight in the 'fridge. Ironically, with this dish less is more. If you want to add anything else, go easy. O_S |

| Re: Potluck not one of you males but here's an easy one that everyone loves and you can claim as your own: Taco Dip Mix together 16 oz sour cream and 16 oz cream cheese and 1 or 2 packages of taco seasoning (depends on brand I use about 1 1/2 of most) when it's all mixed spread it in a pan. (buy a disposable cake pan so no pan to take home later and wash) chop up and put on top of mixture: green onion... Peppers....just green is fine or add yellow & red (even hot ones but might not get all takers if you put those in I usually stick with just green it's cheaper) tomatoes shredded chedder cheese and shredded mozzerella (sp) or buy the preshredded mexican mix and sprinkle that over all of the veggies. Serve with taco chips (tostitos type) I've had parties before and had to mix up another batch in the middle of the party it's the first thing to go. |
