Is it possible?

I'm in my mid 40's and want a major career change. I'm not getting into it for the money, but rather a "job" that is fullfilling. I want to be a RN and help people when they need it most. My background is in the metalworking trades which doesn't help getting into nursing programs. I need about 2-3 semesters at a JC for the prereqs. but I'm concerned about getting in, as time is not on my side. I live in Northern CA. near Sacramento. Can anyone offer up some advice about any programs in my area? Has anyone gone through the program at Western Career College?
Thanks for any advice you may have to offer!!!

Re: Is it possible?

I say go for it! I had a lady graduate with me who was 60!LoL She said she did it because it was something she always dreamed of doing! (and she is the best nurse i have ever met, and she finds a great deal joy out of it!).

Re: Is it possible?

well heck yea its not to late...just think you won't get burnt out b4 its time to retire either. my mom has been a nurse for over 30 yrs and i don't think i could do that for so long esp. in the same field. i was a late starter myself. i did alot a jobs. i have been a lpn for 3yrs and working on my rn and i am 31. Plus i have seen students as old as 50 getting their nursing license. so go for it your as young as u feel..
