Matron

I work hand in hand with death.
Death is my Matron.

She knows all who passed through our doors,
she is a hard worker,
always completing her caseloads.
Sometimes she completes her work quicker than others.

I also work side by side with life.
Life is another Staff Nurse.
She works hard every minute of every day,
every second of every minute.

Life never takes a day off,
she never stops trying to help,
and yet
she always defers her work to
the Matron.
