How competitive is it to get into a BSN program?

I'm currently working in IT in Arkansas and am currently taking my pre-reqs to get into a BSN program. Although I have a 3.0 in my previous degree I'm not sure if my grade point average is good enough to actually get in. Are nursing schools for the most part competitive as far as GPA etc? Are males at an advantage when applying for nursing school?

I guess if I don't get into the BSN program I may opt to go to a non-degree BSN program but it would mean more school later on.

Ha! Whats up? Sherwood, AR person here!

I know many Nurses that went to IT school her in AR They remain nurses. The pay is little better as a nurse. The best part is you will always have a job. SVI has a shortage of nurses. You should have NO Problem getting into a Nursing school. The are hungry for applicants. Good luck.

Heh, that's funny. I'm trying to get into UAMS. A girl friend of mine was told that nursing school was pretty competitive. She has a 2.5 though. I thought that some consideration might be given to male nurses since they are in short supply, but I'm not sure.
