On AUG 3rd, I completed a 15 week grueling critical care nursing course [CCNC] at Madigan Army Medical Center [MAMC]. The course included classroom and clinicals; 6 exams, CEU presentation, one hour single system failure & three hour three system failure presentation, and various other graded assignments.

I've been an RN since 1998 [plus, CST 3 yrs before RN] with Telemetry, ICU, and OR experience. Since the last +4 yrs had been in the OR the CCNC was a welcomed refresher. I'm now on 2 weeks leave, then report back to MAMC where I'll work on ICU East for the remainder of my 3 yr committment. * Unless, deployed with a CSH Unit OCONUS. Anyway, here are a few pics of the ceremony.

I introduced our guest speaker, then later received my CCNC certificate.


BTW, a Colonel after the ceremony ask me the significance of 1995 in the Army Nurse Corps [ANC]. I proudly told him that was the year male Soldier RNs were authorized reserve commissions in the ANC. Then, I proceeded to tell him that in 1966 male RN Soldiers were allowed to apply for Regular Army commissions in the ANC. Well, the Colonel was pleasantly surprised with my replies.

I've been an RN for 27 years, and I am now halfway through an MSN program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. I applaud your achievement in this course. BTW, cool Vette, dude. Glad to see another man in nursing. Dan
