Travel to Georgia

I am looking into traveling to Georgia, Atlanta area- South Fulton county. Any recommendations of what is the best hospitals to go to and companies to work with to travel over there?? Also what is the base pay for travelers or a permanent position?

Re: Travel to Georgia

Pay rates and assignments are limited in Georgia. There are generally few assignments available and the pay rates rival Florida assignments for being very low. Especially in Atlanta.

New grads for permanent positions start at $17-$23/hr base pay, depending on facility.

Beware of any assignments at Grady Hospital. While a great trauma facility, it is a dangerous area (a prime reason for being a great trauma facility). They offer very low travel pay rates, have excessive requirements for that pay rate (many positions want you to be fluent in Spanish), have tried to institute strict dress codes at times, and have cut and run on a number of contracts with traveler agencies. They repeatedly have cut all agency, just to find that they cannot get staff and then they get more agency.

GA is also having problems with medicaid/medicare reimbursement - delays of 6 to 18 monthes. This is causing havoc with hospital finances.

I am in Dalton, GA at Hamilton Medical Center. Lots of travelers here. Pretty good pay.
