Re: whistle blowing

Try contacting your state representative. Either your congress person or senator. They should have a website or you might try the senate website or congressional website and they should be listed there.

Re: whistle blowing

First of all the burden of proof will be on you. Get all the facts all the information that you can in regards to who, what, when, where, etc. There are two places you can contact one is the Department of Health who licenses the place and the other is the Board of Registered nursing who licensed the nurses involved. Of course you have to be able to prove all of your allegations. That is the hard part. And they have to violate some part of the state code, federal code, nursing practice act etc. You can do this annonymously. If you do it that way you will not receive any feed back on what is going on with your complaint. If you provide your name they will let you know what is going on and take your testimony into consideration. If the facility has provided inaccurate information it will be hard to prove that they did so on purpose. Usually if staffing is off it has to be for so many days and then the punishment is to stop medicare and medi-caid payments for 30 days. If you are working there you might want to find another job before you do this. If the company fires you they will try to make it appear as if you had done something wrong. In the mean time it is hard to get a job with that on your resume. It is also a long difficult process to fight in court and difficult to win. Do what you feel is right but dont do it at your own expense. Good Luck and keep me poste.
