| Vague Symptoms I am a 47 year-old nurse just starting a new job in a hospital out of town. I think I may be perimenopausal, but I still have regular periods. I never have hot "flashes". If I am warm, it is one long constant sensation of being hot. I have had my thyroid hormones tested over the years, and they have always been normal or borderline. I also have ADHD and am taking Concerta for this. We are having a week of nursing orientation classes. On Friday, I was hot. I was also layered, so I could peel off layers as I felt warmer. I was down to my t-shirt while younger girls were shivering in their winter coats. My skin felt warm to my touch, and I was slightly nauseated. As soon as I got home (after an hour-long drive in a heated car), I took my temperature by electronic thermometer. It read 96.0 degrees. I was shocked. I felt sure I had a fever. I treated myself as if I had the flu Friday night and Saturday - bland food, fluids, and bedrest. I have felt better today (Sunday). My question is this: What do you think was going on? What, if anything, should I do about it? Thank you very much. |
