Re: Question for the nurse out there about my infant son..

I just woke up 20 mins ago to the loud noises of someone vomiting so in my haze I immediately freaked out and thought it was the baby going through yet another vomiting spell but when I looked to my left to see where my hubby was I realized it was him vomiting badly downstairs in the bathroom. I quickly checked on the baby first to make sure he was okay and then ran downstairs to tend to hubby but hubby just asked me to leave him alone for right now. Once his vomiting slowed down I asked what I could he said nothing really. So I tried to reassure by saying I would get gatorade or whatever at the pharmacy if he needed and said he is okay with those things for now......UGH!!!!! WHAT A WEEKEND!! I suspect my turn is only a day or so away but I am hoping by then TJ will be all better and hubby will be somewhat better.

Re: Question for the nurse out there about my infant son..

It sounds like your house has been hit by a bug. Sorry you are having to deal with that. I hope your son is doing ok. Since he's not a newborn I'd say just keep offering him pedialyte or gatorade. Stay away from water because it doesn't have electrolytes in it. If he tolerates small (2-4oz) amounts every 2 hrs or so you can increase his diet. Starches are a good place to start. Kids are so surprising. One day they're puking and having massive amounts of diarrhea and the next they're asking for pizza. Just go with what your kiddo can handle. This is what I've found from experience with my own kids.

Michelle your advice is excellent...THANK YOU!! This is almost word for word what I was told by my son's pediatric nurse too. My hubby is feeling better but now I am a bit sick . As for my son he is starting to eat and drink more but not nearly as much as before he was sick and he has had one or two bouts of diarrhea in the last two days. Is it normal that it has dragged on so long for my son?? Knock on wood he hasn't vomited in days just here and there bouts of diarrhea maybe one per day.
