| Physicians supervising nurses? I am very concerned about a situation in my facility. There is proposed restructuring that will break down the hospital into business units that have physicians as the managers. The nurses in my facility feel that we have worked too long and hard to establish nursing as a profession to now have our managers and directors tell us that the physicians (not nurses) will supervise us. Do you have any information that could help to support the nurses' point of view? I would be grateful. Thank you. |

| Re: Physicians supervising nurses? This is certainly the first time I have heard of such a thing! Could you give us some more information please? I find it difficult to believe that physicians would agree to such an arrangement. As far as nurses moving toward a profession; I believe we are doing this and do not see us backing away. I don't think doctors are so much against this as nurses elevate themselves in the academic world as well as provide so much for the ongoing of healthcare. |
