Looks like I'll be bled dry today. On top of the stress of awaiting my final grades in VuNet, I also received in the mail today my renewal paperwork for my Paramedic and Nursing license. Now, I not only have to dig up about $300 for Renewal, but I also have to start printing out transcripts and logging CEU hours obtained over the past couple of years(that's gonna be lovely). I suppose, when it rains it pours.

$300 for the license? Geez....when I got my LPN, I paid $15 for
1 year (got it in the middle of the 2 year period). Total was $30 for 2 years. Went up to $40 the next renewal, and $60 about 5-6 years ago. Had 2 licenses going at once...RN AND LPN. *Sigh*.

We just started CEU's this year.

Well, as a Critical Care EMT-P and NREMT-P, I have to renew my license with the National Registry of EMT's, which involves CEU's and a Refresher Course(almost $170 for the refresher), or retake the Licensure Examination($70). This will appease the NREMT.

For my state license as a Critical Care EMT-P, I have to pay $75.00 for my Paramedic Renewal + $90 for Critical Care Endorsement Renewal and Skills Verification.

For my RN, I have to pay $75, and then I have to take care of my FP-C, keep my ACLS-EP, BLS Instructor, and PALS Instructor appeased by teaching 4 courses a year at minimum, PHTLS has to be renewed here in a couple of months. I dont think my NRP expires, but I could be wrong.

The drawback to all the licenses and $2 Titles is that they are so high maintenence.

To remain on the chopper, I have to take a skills examination every 3 months with an Advanced practice Nurse and one of the Trauma Surgeons.
I am almost scared to see the costs associated with my Advanced Practice Nurse Renewal. Yikes!

I know your pain- keeping up with multiple state licenses, ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC... I let a lot of my "$2" titles expire because I just wasn't using them anymore (like peds oncology & chemo...)

Oh Lord, don't even get me started on licenses in other states. Thank God TN is a compact licensure state for nursing. I am not so lucky with my state Paramedic license, I have to maintain a license for Georgia and Kentucky as well.

Critical Care Nursing sure has its baggage.
