increase nursing knowledge

I have been in occupational nursing for 4 years directly out of school, the home care nursing for another 3. I have no hospital experience but am planning on entering this year. I am afraid of going because of lack of on hands experience and of nurses who eat their young. I would like a website where I can brush up on skills before going and looking like a complete nincompoop. help

Re: increase nursing knowledge

I'd spend a some time on http://www.nursingspectrum.com in their continuing education department.

They make their CEU articles available online at no charge to read and cover topics from bedsores, falls to IV therapy and PICC lines.

The nurses eating their young bit, you'll deal with anywhere you were as a newbie. Might be easier for you since you've been a nurse for seven years just not in the hospital.

It is mostly about your attitude and work-habits once you've put in a few years.

You can find more info on nurses eating their young at:

Wish you well!
