I need some help... LPNs Hello! I have a friend that is an LPN in Ohio, and was wanting to move to Texas. Are restrictions different for different states, or after your licensed, you can go anywhere??? If you can't tell, I'm not very familiar with nursing restrictions! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Re: I need some help... LPNs Hi, first of all I'm not CERTAIN about this, but I know that among all of the people that read your letter there are some who are. I can not believe that NOBODY until now has even bothered to try to help you, but then again nurses are not known for their kindness, especially toward their own. RNs are required to get a license for any state in which they wish to gain employment. I'm almost certain that the same is true for LPNs. Why not call the state boards for the desired state, and ask what requirements are? Should be easy as pie. Good luck ![]()

Re: I need some help... LPNs First of all I believe many of us might not know the laws pertaining to Ohio and Texas. That may be why no one answered. Secondly, one should never take another's word about licensing. The place to get info is from the Board's of Nursing. I, also, don't particularly like you saying that nurses are not known for their kindness, especially toward their own. I don't think you have been to kind to your fellow nurses by saying that. And your information is incorrest BTW. RN's don't need to get a license for any state they wish to gain employment. There are states that belong to a Compact in America. I have a license in the state of Maine. I am a Maine resident that means I can work in 16 other states without applying for their individual license. Some states in the compact require that a nurse let the board know they are going to be working in their state some don't..Some states all you have to do is prove you have a license in another compact state. WR,,, three commas for Becca
